Ministry Update for August and September 2023

It was a busy 2 months with 2 conferences being held and other activities occurring as we sought to spread the gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

AUGUST:

A report was given regarding the Hartley Parade back on August 16th. In that report if you will recall, despite the rain, RGM distributed tracts to the few people who attended the parade. We got soaking wet but rejoice in being able to spread the gospel message to the people of Hartley.

This is Larry Villalobos, who helped hand out gospel tracts along the parade route. There was others who helped: Alex (Harvey Spaans’s grandson), Ana DeBoer and Harvey Spaans, the drive of the RGM car. Oh, and I helped, too – got soaking wet like the rest – Praise the Lord!

The “Gospel in the Park” was cancelled for August 16th due to extreme heat and humidity. It was re-scheduled for September 23rd; but that got rained out – we’ll keep trying next year, as God gives us opportunity to hold these important events in our efforts to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

On August 31st, RGM had a table with gospel related books and materials that we gave to students at the “Taste of Sioux Center” event that is held every year at Dordt University. There were many students who stopped by the booth and took a lot of materials. There were some conversations that also took place to encourage the new students and some returning students to remain faithful to the gospel message of Jesus Christ, including remaining steadfast in holding to the Biblical eyewitness account of Creation, as recorded in the book of Genesis.

Out table at the Taste of Sioux Center
Put together a packet of info with gospel tracts and flyers on upcoming events, which were handed out to the students as they stopped at our table.
The book, “How the Bible Came to Be” was very popular with the students, who are seeking answers concerning the authority of the Scriptures, since they have learned that they are attending a university exerting a great deal of effort to undermine its reliability and authority to exalt man’s opinion and espouse humanist ideology.

Please keep the students of Dordt in your prayers as many become increasingly aware they are not attending a university truly grounded in the word of God and committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ! (There are, however, some teachers and faculty members who are remaining steadfast in the Faith, despite the school’s administration straying greatly from Biblical truth; allowing heresy and humanism to be taught in opposition to the clear teachings of God’s Holy Word.)

SEPTEMBER:

On the 9th, RGM held a conference on Biblical Creation: “Creation: Not Blind Faith” with a speaker from the Institute for Creation Research, Dr. Frank Sherwin. He gave three excellent presentations on how science supports the creation account as recorded in Genesis (a literal six-day creation) AND how science does not support evolution. (BTW, it is blind faith that holds to evolution.) The Bible reveals the truth that God created in six ordinary days and science screams in agreement, just as we read in Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:18; Mark 10: 6 (science can’t explain why there are only 2 genders, or there are any genders at all – it can only support the truth that there are only 2 genders in support of God’s revelation of how He made our first parents Adam and Eve, anatomy 101).

The conference was a blessing that not only included the presentations on Saturday but also a book table with many books published by ICR to help people gain a deeper understanding of the creation account and how science supports it. There were also 2 more presentations made on the Lord’s Day by Dr. Sherwin, which were recorded and are also available to watch on YouTube.

On the 16th RGM co-sponsored the creation conference in Dublin, Ireland. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the conference for personal reasons. Notwithstanding, there were about 70 people in attendance from all over Ireland. Three presentations were given by Gavin Cox of Creation Ministries International – UK. What a blessing it is to have this type of conference where evolution is so thoroughly taught and embraced by many people both, outside of the church and in the church, much like it is everywhere, including here in the United States.

Pray that the Lord will continue to bless those who attended and bless Aaran Reformed Baptist Church for hosting the conference as they seek to spread the gospel there in Ireland. RGM would also like to give a special thanks to Rev. Mark Fitzpatrick who worked diligently to put this conference together despite a recent surgery – thanking the Lord for the extra measure of grace He gave too Pastor Fitzpatrick – blessings brother. Here are some pictures:

On the 25th and 26th RGM had a table at the Tri-State Bible Conference, where Derrek Thomas of Ligonier Ministries spoke on the Holy Spirit. Though I was there only for Monday’s sessions, many of our books and materials were taken – praise the Lord – time to buy some more books and materials. Sorry, no pictures this time.

OCTOBER:

Beginning the first Lord’s Day of October, Rev. Stetler started a new Bible study in Hartley. It’s being held at the public library from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. We are studying the Gospel According to John. Please pray that God will bring people to it – no one has shown up yet, though it has been advertised in the local paper.

FUTURE 2023 EVENTS:

Please keep in prayer our Fall Reformation Conference, “A Fresh Way Forward.” On November 3rd and 4th, Rev. Al Baker, an evangelist with Vanguard Presbytery will be delivering 3 messages on reaching out to the LGBTQ community with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Please keep this conference in prayer that it might be used of the Lord to strengthen and embolden His people to reach out in love to those people who are in bondage to the sexual immorality that encompasses this alphabet community.

If you will be in the area, you are welcome to join us – I am confident you be blessed by the Lord and strengthen in your faith. Go to the webpage linked below to register to attend:
