This parable along with the parable of the fish net teach us how we are to handle tares in the midst of a local gathering of believers. It will also bring comfort to the those who are “wheat” (seed sown by God; that is, born again believers in Jesus Christ) and give warning to those who are “tares” (seed sown by the Devil; that is, those who profess faith in Jesus but are not true believers).
