Jesus came to help the helpless; but it was not just the helpless with physical infirmities. He came to heal sinners of their spiritual infirmity. His mercy and compassion shown to the crippled man ought to also give us, who have been “healed” by the grace of God, pause to consider how we ought to show God’s mercy and compassion towards others.
