“Clearing the Temple: Sanctifying Worship” (John 2:13-25) – Sermon Video

Clearing the Temple: Sanctifying Worship

Sermon Text: John 2:13-25 (Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:1-23)

Preached on May 28, 2023 at Peace Reformed Church, Garner, IA

Preached by: Rev. Richard Stetler

The second miracle Jesus does; the miracle that starts His public ministry with a “bang,” sort of speak. Clearing the temple indicated who He was and is, the Messiah that was prophesied in the Old Testament; and spoke of His divine authority over His Father’s house zealously guarding it from the corruption and avarice that had taken root there. This event made quite an impression; but Jesus wasn’t impressed with those who said they believed in Him – watch the video to find out why; and, how this event has application for believers today, both corporately and individually.

May the Lord bless you in the preaching of God’s infallible, inerrant written Word!

Jesus’ First Miracle: Faith Reassured (No Video Available)

Sermon Text: John 2:1-12

Preached on May 21, 2023 at Peace Reformed Church, Garner, IA

Preached by: Rev. Richard Stetler

Jesus begins His earthly ministry in a small; not seeking glory from men, but rather demonstrates His glory that is inherent in Him as the only Begotten of the Father. His first miracle is done privately and without fanfare to reassure His new disciples that what they declared Him to be was, in fact, true. He instantaneously turn water into wine at a wedding feast in a small out of the way town, called Cana. Just as Jesus reassured the faith of His followers in a very private manner; He also does miracles everyday to reassure the faith of His followers today – He does so in many ways that oftentimes others are unaware of the miracles He’s working for us each and every day.

Unfortunately, the message did not get record due to technical reasons; however, the outline of the sermon is linked here: Sermon Outline

I don’t normally to this, but I believe the Lord may use the sermon that I wrote out to encourage someone in the faith – it is linked here: Text of Sermon

I pray the Lord will bless you with this message; regardless of it not being recorded.
