“For God So Loved . . .”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJ)

It is God who loved us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). This love is a love that is an everlasting love that was set upon all of those whom He chose from the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4). It is because of this everlasting love God sent His only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for their sins and redeemed them from their bondage to sin.

How do you know that Jesus died for you?

Believe on Him with all your heart, resting in His one atoning death on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins and turn from your own ways to serve Him all the days of your life. He said earlier to Nicodemus that no one enters the kingdom of God except those who are born again by the Spirit (verse 3). Those who enter into His kingdom can only do so by faith alone. This special faith is a gift given from God (Ephesians 2:8-9) to all who have been born again. So be assured that if, by the grace of God alone, you come to the Father through Christ alone through faith alone you have been born again by the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, by doing so you will have eternal life! Rejoice and be glad for you have been purchased (redeemed) by the precious blood of Christ; and so having been redeemed by Christ, set free from the bondage of sin,  you now able, with a thankful heart, to serve Him by faith according to His word, the Bible – Soli Deo Gloria!
