Sermon text: John 6:11-15 (Scripture reading: Hebrews 12:1-29; Other reading: 2 Kings 4:1-44)

This message focuses on the second and third aspect to miracle of the feeding of the 5,000 men, plus women and children. The second aspect concerns the miracle itself and it significance in demonstrating the power of that Jesus had in transforming what was a small and meager into an abundance of food and how it signified the transforming work of Jesus Christ in life of sinners, transforming them from sinners to saints making them citizens of the kingdom of God. The overabundance of food pointed to the abounding and exceedingly great grace God gives to redeemed sinners, which ought to overflow to others in the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The third aspect concerns the response of the people to the miracle Jesus had done; how they rightly perceived that He was the promised Prophet King; yet, got it wrong in what the Prophet King came to accomplish. Much like what we see today in many churches that profess faith in a Jesus; but is their Jesus the Prophet King revealed in Scripture?
