Jesus did many miracles and spoke to the people of Israel many times; speaking many times in figurative terms; yet, when He spoke the Gospel message in using metaphorical language the people became highly offended. His word was sweet smelling word of life that if mixed with faith it would have brought life to the sinner. However, by not mixing with faith Jesus’ words became a sweet-smelling word of death that would drive them away and would ultimately end in everlasting death; if God didn’t work grace in their hardened hearts by the Holy Spirit and give them the gift of faith to open their eyes to the truths He spoke and receive His word spoken to them as spirit and truth by faith.
