What an amazing event in the History of mankind! God the Son, the second Person of the Triune God took on Him the very nature of man, both of body and soul. It was the only way the sinner could be saved from the penalty of sin and be redeemed from the bondage to sin. Jesus Christ is very God and very man. As very God and very man He was full of grace and truth; in fact He is the Grace of God come in the flesh; he is the source of all truth, the Word of truth come in the flesh.

Because He is full of grace, as very man, Jesus Christ paid in full the penalty for our sins, which is physical and spiritual death. Though he knew no sin; He took on the sin and iniquity of us all and suffered the eternal wrath of God against the sins of all who have been given to Him, those chosen from before the foundations of the world (Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 5:21; Isaiah 53:6; Ephesians 1:3-6). Not only did He suffer and die on the cross both physically and spiritually on behalf of sinners, he also redeemed them from the bondage to sin, redeeming also all of creation from the curse of sin, which will be realized at his Second coming (Genesis 3:17-19; Romans 8:18-23; 3:23; 6:23; 1 Peter 2:22-24). Thus, He demonstrated God’s unearned and undeserved love for sinners, the abounding grace of God toward all who are in Christ by faith alone (Romans 5:8).

Because he is full of truth, as very God, he cannot lie, nor can there be any deception in Him (Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18; John 8:23-26; Isaiah 53:9). In fact, he is the truth, the source of all truth (John 14:9, 6). If all of Scripture is inspired by God (and it is – 2 Timothy 3:16), then what is revealed in its pages is most certainly true and accurate as the history of mankind from his origin, as recorded in Genesis Chapters One and Two to the resurrection of body to either life eternal or eternal death and torment in Hell (Revelation Chapters 20 – 22). Who better to inform us of how all things came into existence than the One who spoke all that there is into existence and upholds all that He created by His might and power, not by imaginary processes of evolution (Colossians 1:15-18).

What does all this mean to you and me? It means that we cannot find salvation in any other name under heaven whereby a sinner can be (must be) saved (Acts 4:12; John 14:6). All who come to Christ in true repentance of their sins and faith in Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins, righteousness, salvation and everlasting life will be saved. Won’t you this day come to Him and by faith call upon His name for salvation?

Those who are in Christ, let this verse reassure your hearts and strengthen your faith in the One who is full of grace and truth. Remain steadfast in Christ and hold firmly onto the truth, as revealed in Scripture interpreting all of reality, including the science God created, in light of Scripture. Let no man persuade you to interpret Scripture in light of faulty interpretations of science by men. Who will you believe and in whom or what will put your trust. May it be in all cases be the Word of Truth, who is Jesus Christ, and His written revelation, the inspired word of God, the Bible. Soli Deo Gloria!
