One day is as a thousand years: What is the Connection to Creation?

“But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
(II Peter 3:8 NKJV)

We live in a day when interpreting Scripture is up for grabs. People want to interpret it either out of context, or interpret it according to human reason; even to the point of interpreting Scripture with scientific observations that have fallen under the irrational thinking and influence of godless people who “suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18).

This is no less true when people seek to argue against a literal six-day creation week. The use of 2 Peter 3:8 is such a passage that used by many to claim that a day in Genesis Chapter One is not an ordinary day. Joel Tay, the CMI speaker at our Creation Conference in April of this year (2019) gives biblically sound reasons as to why this argument fails to prove a person’s position; not just those who hold to millions or billions of years for the age of the earth, but also a day being a thousand years for the creation week. (Not to mention, the false teaching of Genesis Chapter One being poetry under the Framework Hypothesis, which violates every rule of interpreting Scripture.).

BTW, there because of recent scientific discoveries over the past decade or two, there are many research scientists abandoning evolution (in its various forms, both secular and so-called Christian) and embracing the the creation account as recorded in Genesis as the best explanation of the origins of the world and life, and how reality is the way it is today, according to Chapters 3-11. Science supports God’s eyewitness account of the origins of all that exists; how He made all things and how long it took Him to do so, together with the reason why there so much suffering, pain, disease, and corruption in the world today.
