A Very Merry Christmas to All!

“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting.”
Micah 5:2

We at Reformation Gospel Ministries would like to wish one and all a very merry Christmas! We celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ, born to save His people from their sins. Though He created the heavens and earth and through Him nothing was made without Him (John 1:3), left the glory of heaven, as the Second Person of the Triune God, condescending to take on the very nature of man, both of body and soul, without commingling His divine and human natures; one person with 2 natures, conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary; true God, true man. Yet, His humility only began at His Incarnation. He was born in stable, laid in a manger (a feeding trough of hay), running for His life by the time He was 2. He came to His own and they received Him not (John 1:11); in fact, sought to kill Him.

He was believed by a few, despised by many, though He healed the lame, gave sight to the blind, calmed the raging seas, fed 5,000 people and then another 4,000. He even raised a few people from the dead. He was shamelessly accused of blasphemy even when He demonstrated so clearly that He was God Incarnate. He was betrayed, unjustly sentenced to death, abused, beaten and flogged. He who hung the heavens in their place and spread out the stars fixing them in heavens was hung on a tree, arms spread out fixed in place with nails on the cross, then was lifted up in the sky for all to see Him b for the sins of His people.

The Lord of glory suffered great humility to save His people from their sins; not unwillingly, but rather willingly, driven by an everlasting love so great and deep it cannot be measured. It is this love through Christ’s death and resurrection that is good tidings of great joy to all who come to Him by faith and in repentance of his or her sins. Won’t this season be the day of your salvation and hear the call of the gospel of Christ this Christmas? Today, is the day of salvation! Embrace by faith alone Jesus Christ alone with your whole heart for the forgiveness of your sins, righteousness, salvation and everlasting life and live to Him to His glory all the days of your life, submitting your will to His will as it is revealed in His written word, the Bible.

For those who are in Christ let’s us seek the grace of God to walk in humility, as our Savior walked. Let not pride overcome you; but rather overcome pride in the humility that is in Christ alone. Your sin nature will fight against this fruit of Spirit. Humility doesn’t come natural, only by the grace of God will you be able to begin to live humbly before our living God and Savior, Jesus Christ; and only by the grace of God will you be able to live humbly before men as you serve others from a love for God, in submission to His will as revealed in His written word. Won’t you this day come by faith before the throne of grace in repentance of your sins, seeking His grace to strengthen you as you serve God in serving others with a humble heart from the love of God that He has given to you through Jesus Christ our Lord?

“Heavenly  Father, pride continually rises up within me; my spirit desires to walk humbly before you and men, but my flesh is weak to do so. Help me, Oh Father, for the sake of your dear Son, Jesus Christ, my Rock, my Refuge and my Salvation! Forgive me of my pride that hinders your glory from shining forth to others as I serve you in serving others; and please, Oh Father, grant me a humble heart filled with your love towards others, including the lost and even yours and mine enemies that by my witness of your goodness and grace that shines forth by the power of your Spirit and word as I remember the birth of your Son, my Savior, this time of year and everyday, you will be glorified through Jesus Christ my Lord, in Whose name I pray. Amen!”

Soli Deo Goria!
