Gospel in the Park – Update and Prayer Request

Man makes his plans, but God directs his path – sometimes the best laid plans just don’t happen; yet God’s plans never fail (Proverbs 16:9; 19:21).

Saturday’s Gospel in the Park is a case in point: those the AV person (yours truly) painstakingly sought to ensure the sound was working through the video software; he (I) forgot to “start” the live stream recording. Sadly, there is no live stream to post. Those who were there heard the gospel preached, including many who were in the park for other purposes.

Speaking of other persons in the park (PRAYER REQUEST): there was a gentleman there lurking within ear shot hearing the message that was preached. About part way through he threw up a one finger salute and walked away. About five minutes later he came back and was noticeably disturbed by what he heard as I continued in my gospel message preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. The message, “Atheism: A Myth,” was hard hitting, declaring from God’s written word and from creation itself that there is no such thing as an atheist; only humanists, who are self-proclaimed gods. Yet, even for the harden humanist and obstinate sinner there is hope through Jesus Christ – by the power the Holy Spirit a harden heart and eyes blinded by sin, a sinner can be saved by grace alone through faith alone (with a repentant and contrite heart) in Jesus Christ alone, resting His one atoning sacrifice on the cross to pay the penalty for sins, the power of sin. Jesus Christ alone obtained once and for all time, the forgiveness of sins, righteousness, salvation and everlasting life.

Sadly, the man left about two-thirds of the way through the message, not hearing the good news of the salvation that is through Jesus Christ alone, who also delivers all for whom He died from the power of sin and the oppressive influences of the world, including and especially, the humanist philosophy that exalts mankind and creation as gods, as he denies the only true and living God, YHWH Elohim (the LORD God of the Bible). The man left appearing to be under a great deal of agitation (or conviction?). Please pray that God will continue to work grace in the man’s heart; convicting him of his sin and rebellion, converting His heart making him alive from being dead in trespasses and sin and giving him the gift of faith to embrace the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the only way for his salvation and hope of everlasting life; thus, bringing Him into the kingdom of the Son of His love for an everlasting inheritance to the glory of God (Colossians 1:12-13).
