Sermon Text: John 5:31-36 (Scripture Reading: John 5:31-47; Other Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:1-18)
Sermon Delivered by Pastor Richard Stetler on May 24, 2026, at Resurrection Hope Congregation, Hartley, IA
The scariest thing that a person can say to you is “trust me.” I have learned the hard way that it would be wiser not to “trust” such a person. Yet, Jesus, who is the Son of God and the Son of man, could have said that after giving His defense and you could trust that what He said about Himself was true. Notwithstanding, He presented four witnesses to his accusers, who would testify to the truth concerning what Jesus said in His own defense. In the sermon today, two of those witnesses are considered, which should have been enough to verify the truth Jesus spoke concerning Himself, which ought to reassure us and comfort us our faith to live by faith bearing the fruit of the Spirit and boldness to speak confidence that our faith is not a blind faith of philosophical nonsense, such the other man-centered religions of the world. I pray the Lord will bless you and strengthen you the Faith as hear what God has to say to you in the preaching of God’s holy word, the Bible.
