Jesus Christ defeated death by His death on the cross; and defeating death, death could not hold Him. His resurrection is proof that He not only defeated death, but He also satisfied once and for all time God’s righteous judgment that required the punishment for our sins, bearing in His body and soul the wrath of God against our sins. In His death and resurrection He obtained for sinner, what they could not and would not do themselves, the forgiveness of sins, righteousness, salvation and everlasting life.
Having been raised from the grave Jesus now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven as Lord and Christ in heaven and earth, over every nation, pouring out His Spirit on all who belong to Him, washing and regenerating sinners of all sorts and every nationality, raising them up from being dead in their sins and trespasses making them alive in Him and giving them the gift of faith to believe in Him and granting them repentance to turn from their wicked ways to serve Him who lives forever.
We can even say that all who are saved in this way death will not only not hold them, but they are also walking testimonies to the resurrection of Jesus Christ to the glory of God.
